A grilled salad is a great way to eat healthy or add a healthy side dish to your entree. When you grill lettuce, the grill adds a smoky flavor and a caramelized texture to the outside of the lettuce leaves.
You can’t grill every type of lettuce. Some will wilt on the high heat of a grill, but Romaine and iceburg lettuce are the best types of lettuce to grill.
Unlike grilling meat, you don’t have to worry about temperature doneness level. Rub the lettuce with olive oil and a little salt and pepper (and/or other seasonings to your preference) and place the lettuce on the hot grates. Grill for a few minutes to caramelize the lettuce. That’s it!
