Let’s face it—sometimes, cooking can be confusing. What does it mean to baste something? What does it mean to make a glaze? And what in the world is the difference? Master Chef Chris Koetke explains everything you need to know to make the most of your SABER® grill when cooking pork roast.

The main points to remember? When you’re basting, you brush a liquid on the meat as it’s grilling. The purpose is to add flavor and retain moisture.

Glazes are generally thicker and rich in sugar. You want it sticky so that it adheres to the outside of the meat, and will caramelize to give a beautiful flavor and wonderful shine to your dish.
